A teenager and a man were both killed in a multiple-car crash that sent seven others to the hospital. According to police, a 33-year-old drunk driver from another state caused the wreck when he sped up to pass another car. At that time, he lost control of the SUV that he was driving. Car accidents such as this claim the lives of many New York residents every year.
After the man lost control of his vehicle, he soared across three lanes of heavy traffic and smashed into a guardrail. His car flipped over into the opposite lanes, according to police. At least one car landed upside down and another on its side before the horrific crash was over. The accident took place in Queens at about 6:30 am.
The man is now facing several charges, including reckless driving and endangerment, manslaughter, aggravated vehicular manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter and driving while under the influence. The seven people who were sent to hospitals were said to have had minor injuries. A 34-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy lost their lives in that crash.
